(Amb. Dr. Erika Bennett and Ama K. Abebrese (Ghanaian Actress) congratulate Nana Rita Marley for receiving her Ghanaian Citizenship during PANAFEST 2013.)

In the very broadest sense, everyone will be a participant at PANAFEST 2019 during this "Year of Return"! Without the groups of musicians, dancers, press, scholars, diplomats, poets, authors, painters, organizers - and yes especially the brothers and sisters returning from the diaspora as well as tourists and visitors from abroad - PANAFEST would be but a shadow of itself.

It is this biennial mixture of diverse people and cultures that makes PANAFEST a world class event. Probably you are wondering just what goes on at this gathering of people from across Africa and the Diaspora ... in fact, it's a celebration of African civilization and all that Africa has given to the world.

PANAFEST is more than a series of musical concerts and dance performances. It is a commitment to the exploration of means to better the lives of Africans the world over - through dialogue and discussion of issues close to the African Heart.

It takes place in the historic setting of Cape Coast in Ghana where colonial landmarks serve as a daily reminder of what inhumanity is capable of. It is against this backdrop of ancient forts, castles and dungeons that we celebrate the future and Africa's great potential. Part of the celebration includes the traditional gatherings of royalty from the Central Region. Come join us in 2019 and experience Africa at her best.
